Introduction and Guide

Introduction to Movecraft

Movecraft is a plugin on our server that allows you to build and move vehicles made of blocks. If you aren't familiar with it, it may seem daunting at first, but it's quick to learn and a lot of fun

General information

In Movecraft there are different types of crafts (vehicles) that have their own traits and build requirements.

Building a craft

Building a craft is pretty simple, the first step is to identify which craft you want to build, then find out what blocks are allowed on that craft type. Each craft type for the most part has a different list of allowed blocks so this is good to check.

Crafts also have max and min sizes, block requirements, and block limits. This varies from craft type to craft type so make sure to check the craft description to understand these.

Piloting a craft

Once you are done building your craft and are ready to start moving it make sure to pilot it by either entering the command /pilot [CRAFT TYPE] ex. /pilot Tank or use a craft sign. If you don't meet the craft requirements a message will pop up telling you what you need and how much you currently have in terms of blocks.

Moving a craft

Moving your craft is very simple. You must have a stick on you to do so though so if you do not have one enter the command /kit movecraft. With the craft piloted and a stick in your hand point in any direction and right-click to move. To rotate either have a compass in your hand and left-click to turn left or right-click to turn right, enter the command /rotate [LEFT OR RIGHT], or use a helm sign (more info on this later in the thread). To enter cruise mode either enter the command /cruise [ON/OFF] or use a cruise sign.

Periscopes

Periscopes are a multi-block structure that allows for alternate perspectives in your movecraft crafts. Most crafts provide a limited field of view without leaving the confines of the craft, so this provides the player with maximum field of view without compromising on the protection of the pilot.

Construction

A periscope consists of a vertical pillar of iron bars, cobblestone walls, or netherbrick fences. The minimum height is three blocks, and the maximum height is 10 blocks.

After building it, place a sign at the base of the periscope saying [Periscope]. The text of the sign will turn light blue and say 'Periscope'.

Use

Right-click the sign saying 'Periscope'. After doing this, your perspective will be placed on top of the periscope structure. You can move your camera around, but you will not be able to move.

To leave the periscope, enter the command /p exit

Global Circumnavigation

On our server, both players and Movecraft crafts can "wrap" around the world. This means that when a player or craft reaches the world border on one side of the map (for example, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean), they are automatically teleported to the opposite side. This simulates a globe-like world on a flat map.

Key Points:

  • The wrapping occurs at the world’s borders.

  • The transition is seamless.

  • This mechanic applies equally to players and Movecraft ships, enabling uninterrupted long-distance navigation.

Example:

If a ship sailing east reaches the eastern edge of the map, it will instantly reappear on the western edge, continuing in the same direction. This allows for true global circumnavigation despite the world being technically flat.

Tips

Overboard

If you go overboard enter the command /manoverboard this will teleport you back to your craft

Lock your ships

This is important, you do not want the craft you worked hard to build to be stolen so make sure to lock it. To lock it place a piston head by extending a regular piston or obsidian anywhere on the craft but it must be touching the craft in some way. Using a pilot sign is also recommended.

Other tips

Most crafts require fuel. Make sure you have plenty on the ship and on your person.

If you want to build many of the same craft use Shipyards. They cut down on build time and free you up to design new crafts or do other things on the server.
